A Year End Review

I must say 2016 started out with my first lost against Tim in Bolt Action.  On the up side I finished my German army and to me that was the best win.  My goal in December was to clear off all the models on my work bench I started in 2015 and I did.

So what is on the agenda for 2016......

Saga was big for me in 2015 and it will continue to be played in 2016.  I painted up a complete 6 point Vicing army and stated a second one.  I also built a small village of 4Ground terrain and purchased the Great Hall.  I plan to have the Great Hall built and on the table, it is an amazing model kit.  I picked up Crescent and the Cross and started to purchase Fire Forge Templar Knights.  My goal with these model is to make movement trays for them so I can use them for King of War.  My friend Rob is doing the same thing with his Vikings and it is a great way to paint one army for two games.  This will be the army I am going to focus on this year.  I want to learn some new painting skills and develop better painting habits to increase my speed and quality.

Spartan Games:  I jumped all over Spartan Games in 2015 and painted up a few different fleets for Halo and Firestorm Armada.  I plan to continue to paint up my collection and want to get these games on the table more in 2016.  I also want to start work on my Planet Fall and Dystopian war collection.

Cons and Con-Games: In 2015 I went to RinCon, a small gaming convention in Tuscon Az.  It was fun and I had a blast.  I plan to return this year and attend a few others in the local area.  The local conventions are small and not really for miniature games.  So I started work on taking board games and making them better with using miniatures.  My first project is Thunder Alley and using Matchbox cars.  I have already built the board and based up the cars.  I need to finish painting the board and it will be ready for the table.  If I am going to a conventions I want to play games in a way that make them epic and not just another board game.

Airbrush: For Christmas in 2014 my wife purchased me an airbrush and compressor.  My intentions were to learn how to use it and it didn't happen.  I messed around with it a little but didn't really take the time to learn how to use it.  Well this year I still have those same intentions.  I purchased form Gundam models to build and paint using my airbrush.  The game shop that I play at hired a guy and he is hosting classes to teach people how to paint and using an airbrush.  I will take a few of his classes and see what I can do.  Fingers crossed lets see what happens.

2015 I set out to just find some games that I enjoy playing and could have fun playing.  I found one game that I really like and a few more that have sparked my interest that I have not played yet.  This year I want to focus on these games building my collection and teaching others how to play them.  I have a feeling it is going to an exciting year for gaming and the gaming industry this year.  I will just end this review by saying............Blood Bowl.

Good luck on the year ahead! I am also planning to get the airbrush out this year and try to figure it out.

I occasionally use my airbrush just for base coats. I used it on my Bolt Action vehicles and it was nice and easy (also the German camp stripes were airbrushed). Anything more detailed.... I'm like the rest I of you, a rookie LOL
